AMF connects Dorowera Farmers to Big Markets
The Adam Molai Foundation visited the Dorowera Irrigation Scheme in Ward 6, Mutoko District, for a special marketing visit. Farmers had the incredible opportunity to meet officials from Selby Enterprises and TM PicknPay, two prominent organizations in the industry.
During the visit, Selby Enterprises’ Chief Buyer, Isaac Chowoye, and Marketing Manager, Happymore Bester, along with TM Pick’n’Pay’s Justin Chigumira (National Buyer: Fruit and Veg) and Mutoko Branch Manager, James Chifamba, engaged in fruitful discussions with the farmers. They also had the chance to explore the crops that showed great potential for purchase by these organizations, such as cucumbers, butternut and beans.

The primary goal of this visit, part of a intervention by the Foundation in collaboration with the Disaster and Environmental Management Trust, was to foster a sustainable business culture among the farmers. By eliminating exploitative middlemen (makoronyera), the foundation is empowering farmers to sell their crops directly to retail companies, ensuring they receive the full value for their hard work.
This initiative is a significant step towards creating a fair and transparent agricultural market, benefiting both the farmers and the retail companies.
